Mass spectrometry-based proteomics has become an invaluable tool in modern biomedical research. The proteomics group performs state-of-the art mass spectrometric analyses of peptides/proteins, with an historical focus on immunology, i.e. HLA-peptidomics, cell biology and microbiology.
Our primary focus is on applying and improving the depth characterization of proteomes and peptidomes to enable a better understanding of mechanisms in health and disease. To this end, we apply offline chromatographic (e.g. C18, SCX, IMAC) and electrophoretic (SDS-PAGE) peptide and protein separation techniques with nanoLC-MS/MS analysis. The available mass spectrometric equipment comprises several Orbitraps™ (LUMOS Tribrid™, Exploris480™ and Q-Exactive™). We also use our methodologies to study post-translational modifications (e.g. phosphorylation, glycosylation and ubiquitination) and elucidate protein function e.g. of proteases.
