PhD Martin Giera
RESEARCH
Martin Giera is the head of the Metabolomics group at the Center for Proteomics and Metabolomics at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). He studied pharmacy in Heidelberg and Munich and obtained his PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry from LMU Munich. After his postdoc training at the VU University Amsterdam he joined the LUMC in 2011, today heading the Metabolomics group. Martin has been a visiting scientist at Harvard medical school and the Scripps research institute. He serves as editor and editorial board member for several journals, is chairman of the interdisciplinary committee of the FWO science foundation, coordinator of the multi-national ArthritisHeal consortium, consultant to pharma partners and has published more than 130 scientific articles and book chapters in the field of metabolomics and lipidomics analysis.
