In a recent rheumatoid arthritis study – a common autoimmune and inflammatory disorder – researchers Theresa Kissel, René Toes and colleagues from the Rheumatology Department and the Center of Proteomics and Metabolomics of the Leiden University Medical Center discovered that sugars play an important role in disease development.
